Maggie Kenny, MCP, RCC
Registered Clinical Counsellor
You may look like you’re functioning on the outside, but inside, you feel overwhelmed, anxious, self-critical, or stuck in patterns you can’t seem to change.
Maybe you:
-Get stuck in loops of rumination
-Struggle with anxiety or panic
-Carry shame, self-doubt, or a harsh inner critic
-Feel emotionally reactive in relationships
-Feel drained from people-pleasing or perfectionism
-Want deeper connection but fear rejection
Therapy with me is structured, emotionally focused, and grounded. Together, we identify the patterns underneath your stress, not just manage symptoms, so you can respond differently in your relationships, work, and daily life.
My Therapeutic Approach
My work is grounded in evidence-based therapies, including:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Helping you identify and restructure unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors, giving you tools to navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence.
- Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT): Guiding you in safely exploring emotions to foster deeper self-understanding, reduce overwhelm, and strengthen connections.
- Attachment-Based Therapy: We’ll explore how early experiences shape your current relationship dynamics, helping to build more secure and healthy
relationships. - Somatic Psychotherapy and Nervous System-Based Techniques: These approaches focus on the mind-body connection and regulation tools to calm the nervous system, regulate emotions, and increase inner safety.
- Internal Family Systems (IFS): We’ll explore your internal psyche, helping you understand and work with the different “parts” of you, such as the perfectionist
part, inner judge or inner critic part.
I tailor therapy to your needs. Sessions are collaborative, structured, and focused on meaningful change.
Couples and Relationship Counselling
I also work with couples who feel stuck in conflict, distance, or recurring arguments.
Using Emotion-Focused Therapy and attachment-based approaches, we focus on:
- Understand negative interaction cycles
- Improve communication
- Rebuild trust
- Strengthen emotional safety
- Create a more secure bond
Sessions balance structure with emotional depth, so both partners feel heard and
supported.

What We Work On
Many of the struggles we face as adults are shaped by earlier experiences – family dynamics, attachment wounds, rejection, trauma, or chronic stress. Over time, these can become internalized and create meaning about who we are and what we expect from others. These experiences can leave behind powerful internal messages like:
- “I’m not enough.”
- “I’m too much.”
- “I can’t trust people.”
- “Something is wrong with me.”
In therapy, we work to:
- Understand how these patterns formed
- Process unresolved emotions safely
- Build nervous system regulation skills
- Reduce anxiety and emotional overwhelm
- Strengthen self-worth and boundaries
- Improve communication and relationship security
Clients often report:
- Feeling calmer and less reactive
- Feeling more confident in relationships
- Reduced anxiety and self-criticism
- Greater emotional clarity
- A stronger sense of self
